Biography

Matteo (Teo) Cassi is an italian artist, musician and performer.

Teo was born on March 1st 1989 in Arezzo. Once completed his classical studies, he earned his first degree in Anthropology (2012) at the historic college “La Sapienza - University of Rome”  to later complete in the same Atheneum a Master of Arts in History of the Modern and Contemporary Age (2016).

During the years of college Matteo also toured the United States and Europe with his art-rock band Walden Waltz, for which he composed lyrics and music. In 2012 the band flew to Hollywood to attend the 21st Los Angeles Music Award, receiving the prize “Outstanding debut release”, for the EP produced in San Francisco by Ron Nevison (Led Zeppelin, The Who). 

Between 2012 and 2015, Teo collaborated live as a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass, mandolin, ethnic instruments, clarinet, percussion and synthesizers) with international acts such as The Growlers, Teho Teardo, Sycamore Age.

Starting by 2015 to the current days he has worked with Italian national TV, as music author, composing and producing original music for tv shows and documentaries; on Mediaset (IT) for Le Iene (still on broadcasting), on Sky Atlantic HD for the series “Il Racconto del Reale” (2018), for “Piacere Maisano” series on TV8 (2019-2022).

In 2014 Theo won the Veretti Prize with a suite composed and arranged for fifty orchestral elements (“Valencia”).

As composer he won the Campari Red Passion award for the shortcut “Sirena” (Directed by: Ettore Mengozzi) earning the red carpet at the 75th International Venezia Film Festival. For the same director, Ettore Mengozzi, Matteo composed and produced the soundtrack for the awarded shortcut “Crumbs”.

Since 2017 he has been composer, Music Director and author for the international theater company Bamsemble Company, for which he composed and played live the soundtrack of the show “SALT”, performing in historic theaters, like “Franco Parenti” in Milan, or the “Royal Cavallerizza Palace” in Turin and around Italy between 2017 and 2020.

In 2020 he won the first prize at the Mario Luzi International Award, in the narrative section, with his novel book “The Furious” (Il Furibondo).

In 2020 Matteo earned his Chef degree at the prestigious Chef Academy “ Accademia italiana Chef” in Florence IT. He later perfectioned his skills with the Michelin Star Chef Chiara Cattini. His focus is on Mediterranean traditional recipes with an artistic and creative perspective. Culinary art is another language that Matteo uses for his art creations.

Matteo purposefully does not use social networks, as a form of artistic statement, he has no social media pages on Instagram, Facebook or other platforms; however his music and his works are available on Spotify, Apple Store or physical and digital record stores.
